A little help
with the reader.
For the grown-up beside the book. These notes cover the current iPad and iPhone preview, which is still in testing.
Getting the reader
The reader is not yet on the App Store. If you have been invited to test it, follow the installation instructions supplied with your invitation. You do not need a Puddlebend account to read the included books.
There is no Android download available yet. You can read the public collection in a web browser today.
Browse the booksOpening a story
Choose a book from the library, then open it to begin reading. The reader remembers your place on that device. Your favorites make it easier to find a story again.
If a book does not open in a test version, return to the library and try again. If the problem continues, note the book title, app version and device model for your feedback. There is no need to include a child’s name.
Books and connectivity
The reader is being prepared for reading with locally stored book files. Test builds can differ in how those files arrive; some require a connection to retrieve them. Follow the instructions for your particular test version.
If you are planning to read away from a connection, check that the books open on your device first. We will publish the released app’s offline instructions here when it is available.
Favorites and clearing data
Favorites, reading positions and display preferences are stored on the device. They do not sync to another Puddlebend device or account.
To reset them, open Parents, complete the adult check, then choose Clear local data. This clears the saved preferences on that installation. It does not remove an operating-system backup or an email you sent us.
