Which experience this covers
This notice covers the Puddlebend reader preview for iPad and iPhone. The reader is in testing and is not yet available to download from the App Store. It is a separate experience from our website and its browser reader.
Puddlebend operates the reader. Our website and adult services have a separate Website Privacy Policy. Opening a web page from the app involves a website visit, even if you started in the reader.
Reading without an account
The reader is for children and the adults who read with them. It does not ask for an account, a child's name, date of birth, contact details, photograph, voice recording or location. It has no comments, chat, advertising or purchases.
The app does not include advertising or analytics services that report how a child reads. You do not need to submit personal details to read the included stories.
What stays on your device
The reader saves favorite books, the last book opened, your place in each book and its edition and language, and reading-mode and text-size preferences. Puddlebend does not receive these saved records. They are not synchronized to a Puddlebend account or another reading device.
Someone using the same device may see its saved books and preferences. Your device's backup and restore settings may also include app data; those settings are controlled through your device and platform account.
Book files and test versions
The app uses book illustrations, text, fonts and reader files. During testing, a version may retrieve these files from the server supplying the test build. That server receives the network address and request details needed to deliver the files. Your saved favorites and reading positions are not included in these requests.
Test versions therefore should not be understood as a promise that every app session is entirely offline. We will update this notice to describe the released app before it becomes publicly available.
When an adult contacts us
If an adult emails us, we receive the email address, message and any attachments the adult chooses to send. We use that information to answer the request and resolve the problem. Please do not send a child's photograph, name or other unnecessary personal details.
Correspondence is handled through email service providers. We keep it only as long as needed to resolve the request and meet applicable legal requirements. We do not sell it or use it for targeted advertising. We may disclose information when legally required or necessary to protect a person or the service.
Clearing data and asking for help
In the reader, open Parents, complete the adult check and choose Clear local data. This resets saved favorites, reading positions and preferences on that installation. It does not delete a separate device backup or an email you have sent us.
An adult can contact us to request access to, correction of or deletion of correspondence we hold, or to ask a question about a child's privacy. We may need to verify the adult's request. We cannot retrieve or delete reading records that exist only on your device.
We respond within the time required by applicable law. If we decline a request, you may ask us to reconsider by replying, and may contact your relevant privacy regulator. We do not discriminate against people who exercise privacy rights.
Apple, devices and external pages
Apple handles App Store and TestFlight accounts, distribution and any platform diagnostics under its own terms and privacy information. Information you choose to submit through TestFlight feedback may be available to the developer. Those processes are separate from the reader's locally saved preferences.
A website opened outside the reader follows that website's privacy policy. You can read this notice inside the app without opening our website.
Changes to this notice
We will update this notice and its date when the reader's information practices change. If a change requires additional notice or consent, we will provide it before that change applies.
